Quick tutorial on making the stencil and sign 'tis the Season for my front door wreath at end of this post.
Who could resist vintage brass kitchen tools hung from a brass holder - kitchen art.
December thrifted finds are often Christmas or gift related.
I went to a small bazaar/tea/white elephant on December 2nd and had the pleasure of hugging and catching up with two old friends (we all worked in the same building many, many, many years ago).
The thrift store I enjoy the most had a 50% off their 'vintage' shelves - ie - the more costly of their stock. I had been keeping my eye on the very worn and vintage 4 sided grater - and my battery operated white lights fit inside nicely.
I admit the Tupperware Children's play cooking pieces are from a November 25th Church Bazaar and White Elephant event. It was quieter than last year (maybe because it was on the Black Friday weekend). Less bits and pieces than last year too. Still, there were interesting things to find and bring home.
There was also a November 25th Moving Sale. The dark blue enameled tea/water server (often used on farms when taking lunch to those working in the fields) should have a wire bail handle and a deep round flat top. It has many hard wear dings.
The child sized heavy red handled electric (no cord with it) iron is a treasure - but I would never have let a child use it - I think it may be a small adult iron (and the handle has been replaced).
A small screw clamp is always useful. I use several to temporarily hold shelving units together in my booths, keeps them from any movement (one unit is always screwed to the wall and a second is held in place with two or three screw clamps).
Sometimes something special is sitting on a bottom shelf, blocked by a chair, in a thrift store - and last Saturday - oh my, 8 rimmed bowls - Brown Transferware. George Jones 1885. Birds and Bloom. Reg No. 5652.
The antique brown transferware butter pats were found earlier this year.
Tutorial: Making a 'tis the Season stencil
While looking for 'stuff' in my shed I re-found the side pieces for a dresser drawer. The widest piece was just the right size for my 'tis the Season stencil.
The words were a 'free from Cricut' Christmas promotion. The word had 3 layers so I separated them, discarded the base and top layers and used the plain words. I sliced the letters that had no 'open areas'.
Taped the stencil to the board, used a ponce stencil brush and CeCe Caldwell Beckley Coal.
To see how I work on any stencil check here for using a Cricut to create the stencil and here for using the stencil with paint/stencil ponce brush to make the stencil on a board.
Didn't add a painted background, sealed with hemp oil.
