Thinking about Mothers Day on May 16th.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms in our lives and memories.
Used my cricut to make DGS's choice of a Mother's Day card in pink and purple for his Mom.
Repurposed the white basket (already spray painted white) from free table at the thrift store (removed the faux yellow daisies).
Also used a free Starbucks mug with a chip and added clippings from our just now blossoming ornamental plum tree (a metal frog held them upright inside the mug) for the branches and blossoms and tied a pink neck scarf from Share the Care (thrift store find) through the basket handle.
For those of you who know me you will see Joy - Cure - Breast Cancer on the scarf.
Pink often brings back the memories of being diagnosed, treated and the after effects of breast cancer. I know it isn't October but please make sure you have a yearly mammogram, check your breasts frequently for anything that feels different from your norm, have your doctor check on your yearly check-up.
Finding bits and pieces to turn into 'something else' has been fun, last weekend we went to a community with 150 families participating in a well signed and ballooned garage sale event. Found the tote and the faux succulents and that lead to the following small project.
Pieces used were a wooden narrow tote already painted blue and creamy white, 3 faux succulents and a branch arch that I found years ago while thrifting. Painted the arch with white chalk-clay paint, washed the tote and faux succulents, put them on the cedar wall (tote is on the rake handle shelf).
It needed a little something more so I stenciled Welcome.
Thanks for visiting.

Hi Joy. Two days ago I was looking at a basket almost identical to your white one. I painted it white for last fall and refuse to toss it, but had no plans on using it. I am thinking it could be a really cute on the front door with flowers in it. Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
You have such a creative mind, Joy! And your gardens are stunning.
