Included a Valentine project, using free/thrifted finds, at the end of the post.
Sadler Springtime teapot on a piece of vintage taffeta with a wooden heart on a wire stand holding a pink paper love.
Again the beautiful piece of taffeta with a red lantern, Mickey Mouse card holder and the Moonlight Moods CD, all thrifted.
Used my folding light box, the taffeta and cotton fabric photos were taken in the evening with 2 small bright spotlights.
Added a bit of love to the Dream sign made in January. Backdrop is the white bead type board I often use.
Found a Valentine sauce boat, added a heart and a red wooden valentine. Background of shiny white and black dots are a tray .
Pink buttons in thrifted salt and peppers and a lidded jar. Love the vintage fabric.
I've had the vintage fabric for a few years and on my 'clean out clutter' in January the pile of fabric came to my attention (again) - kept the fabric.
Used my large blackboard as the background for the thrifted wedding topper (1950's era) shown on another piece of vintage fabric.
Always a pleasure to revisit the past through thrifted finds.
So, a small project - before thrifted/free finds.
Chas at Let's Create posted A Simple Way to Clean Vintage Silverware and this was my inspiration for cleaning the wine goblets.
Hugs.
So, a small project - before thrifted/free finds.
Cleaned the 5 goblets with in a bath of boiling water, aluminium foil, baking soda, vinegar, sea salt. Polished dry with a tea towel. Below is the before/after for a pair of goblets.
Cut hearts from a red file folder, used the doily as a base. Since two of the goblets had 25th Anniversary on their sides I made up a story of five good friends getting together to celebrate 25 years of friendship.

Thank you for visiting.

Love your valentine decor. Especially the buttons. Thanks for the tip on silver cleaning. I must try it.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Beautiful!!! I need to get my Valentine stuff down....so far I am still exhausted from putting Christmas up and cleaning. Took the last tree down from in the gazebo yesterday and we stored it away this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was an informative post, not only for some of the great finds, but for how you shot the photos. I especially like the one with the buttons in the jar, salt shakers against the retro fabric. I've cleaned silverplate that way too and was amazed at the difference!
ReplyDeleteHi Joy ... great finds and so well presented. I have used a light box for small items and loved it. Need to get it out again, but mostly I have large stuff to picture. Will have to remember your method of cleaning silver. Love the pink buttons displayed in the salt shakers and jar.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Audrey Z.
I love the things you post. It's like walking around my grandmother's house.

The goblets are very elegant! And you've given me all kinds of ideas...red buttons in the salt shakers and pretty hearts cut out to put here and there. Vintage items are in style ALL year long! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you're having fun with your light box, Joy :) I have one rigged up in my workroom--it's not perfect, but it helps a lot. So fun that you picked up just the right items to create a sweet Valentine's display. Thanks so much for linking up with Vintage Charm--
ReplyDeleteSome really fun thrift finds Joy. I've found a few Valentines cuties at our thrift too. Those goblets sure cleaned up wonderfully! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
