Rarely do I have to wash off the chalk paint that has 'flowed' under the stencil letter - happens when using a brush that has too much paint or one that wasn't dry when stencilling (or as sometimes happens, not holding the stencil in place and things 'slip').
I am always on the hunt for well used boards to use for my stencils and the boxes and stacks of collected boards sometimes threaten to use too much house space.
My new stencils from Funky Junk Interiors arrived and I am making new signs. I used my best board for the first one I made - FARMHOUSE. I love the size of the stencil. Love the board - RED, good length, good width. Added a coat of Jersey Red CeCe Caldwell before stencilling because the board had a few scrapes of white showing through.
Then I made the Private small sign - just right for a kid to hang on their door to make a point.
and CABIN - dreaming summer thoughts.
Lake RENTALS - used a great old piece of cut plywood that I had asked for at an estate sale - from the piles of old cut up pieces of wood outside one of the barns.
Added a wash of 1-1 water/CeCe Caldwell Santa Fe Turquoise chalk-clay paint to both sides before stencilling Lake Rentals using CeCe Caldwell Beckley Coal.
All the signs were clear waxed and polished after drying, sanded a bit plus the red FARMHOUSE sign had dark wax added on top of the clear wax in some areas.
More stencils another day.
