The white cow teapot was a Monday Thrifted find and the keys and lock are from my own collection. This post is about making two small pieces of wood more useful. The vignette below has the 'finished' changes.
I started my junk transformed and made useful project with the Family Faith Love Sign - this is the after below.
Sign Before and During - the 'free at the thrift shop' sign had sticky hot glue holding the raffia bow on the front as well as on the back, most likely it had been glued to something else. I scraped the glue off with a kitchen knife, sanded lightly and then painted the back with CeCe Caldwell's Simply White, added a light wash of Simply White to the front, lightened the border and filled in the heart. When dry I waxed both sides with CeCe Caldwell's Clear Wax and buffed. I added a small press on hanger to the back.
The lantern is a weekend garage sale find, the flow blue sugar bowl tea holder is a very chippy treasure I have used for years, the teacup is waiting for a saucer.
Key Holder - this is the after.
Key Holder Before and During - the wood had 4 L-hooks and a round hook for hanging when I found it (garage sale). I scrubbed the sign, both sides, to remove the dirt and when dry stencilled the ribbon with CeCe Caldwell Beckley Coal. (I first stencilled the ribbon with Chalkboard Paint but it was a bit runny [I think I should have stirred a LOT more] and it eased under the ribbon stencil so I washed it off immediately and changed the paint.) When it was dry I stencilled a key (Simply White) and then lined the lower part of the ribbon with white, used CeCe Clear Wax and buffed.
The mug is from the Roses Collector Series, thrifted Monday. I added my little Jade starter plus a 'resting' violet in a small pot with the two projects, love the sunshine.
Thank you for visiting today.

Love the chalkboard key stamp on your key holder. :) And I'm partially jealous of the blue lantern you found, so cute!
ReplyDeleteJunk made useful needs to be my motto for awhile! We have officially reached the point of having too much stuff but the challenge of reusing and changing is fun.

ReplyDeleteYour share made me smile. Great job! I am rounding out all the posts I missed for Blue Monday. I had made a habit of visiting each person each week. I am so sad that I heard of the passing of Smiling Sally yesterday. What a special friend she was always caring and commenting to all of our posts. She will be sorely missed and I plan to add blue to my Monday posts in her honor and memory. I am praying for your family. Blessings, Anne
