Every January I forgot to bring it out until this year. Each candle holder is attached with a screw under the base. This is the 'before'.
I used Annie Sloan Primer Red, one of my favourite old style colours - reminds me of old barn paint. Love the colour. I taped 4 stripes before I painted.
The first coat of ASCP covered lightly as does most chalk type paint and it dries quickly. With the speed of drying I often do not wash the paintbrush between coats.
The second coat provides a good cover over the original unpainted wood.
The sequence of painting (below)
I removed the tape and then checked the taping photo and realized ...
there were 4 stripes of tape to remove. I liked the look of 3 and love the look of 4 stripes.
Next is the waxing. I used CeCe Caldwell clear wax. Added candles. Evening photo.
Before and after - afternoon and evening lighting differences.
This project took about and hour not including the drying time.
Supplies:
1/2" art paint brush
ASCP Primer Red
newspaper
frog tape 1/4" and 3/4"
CeCe Caldwell clear wax
rag for waxing
I have used the natural stripes on painted furniture here, here , here.
Thank you for visiting.
