Sunset the evening before the really big wind storm. 12 hours with no power Saturday certainly is a practical reminder of how much we rely on electricity. Trees down, stores closed. Rain (which was very welcome). Couldn't grind coffee beans. Post not written. Some areas still without power. News Media saying worst storm in a decade, perhaps up to 300,000 people affected. More power is coming back on today as more grids are repaired (trees on lines seemed to be the big problem).
Rain finally. Virtually no rain since May. Some areas on coastal BC are classified level 4 (no use of water outside of the home (see my sister's posts here and here). Our area is level 3 - hand watering plants only. No other use of water outside. Brown lawns. Fines for any other type of water use.
Brief update of my garden area. Peas, beans and tomatoes.
Time to pick up the routines and carry on. Rain forecast for the rest of the week.
Thanks for visiting.
Sharing with A Southern Daydreamer, Home And Garden Thursday, Have A Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson,
Glad your electricity is back on. Don't we feel helpless without it? When ours was out last winter, I kept walking into a room and flipping on the light switch. Duh!! Hope you get a good amount of rain without any bad weather.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Sorry about the storm, but glad you got a little rain. Loved reading your sister's blogs. She has a beautiful place. We also collect rainwater which has been so helpful for the trees while we wait for rain. Amazing how much water one can collect from just ¼" of rain.
ReplyDeleteHope the extended rain brings some relief. Glad your power is back on. I'm no good when ours goes out. Can't even sit and read. Looks like you've been able to eke out a nice little garden in some difficult conditions.
ReplyDeleteHappy harvest! Loved the green patches.
ReplyDeleteHappy ODW!
Hope you are safe and did not have too much damage from the storm ~ Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,

Wow, Joy, I had no idea you were in an area with little rain. And yes, those reminders when we are without power are powerful themselves! Hope you have more rain in the near future (without the wind storm!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots!
