Set up my White Baby Singer (it has a turquoise cover) on a folding TV table. Removed the drop cloth seat from the sewing stool top, trimmed it a bit smaller and pressed a hem and double stitched the edges.
I had stencilled the turquoise fleur d'lis on the drop cloth seat cover when I painted and covered the stool in 2012 but it needed a bit of revamping.
Bingo stencil (here). I used a folded cloth to dab off any extra paint from my brush. 'Free space' got enough paint this time. I used the centre piece of green tape to make sure the top of the hinged top lid had the 'bingo' part of the cover. I also centered the stencil (measure twice etc.) and taped in place.
Important Clean the used stencil, right after using it, under running water, rubbing the paint off gently with a finger or two until the stencil is clean. Be careful/gentle with the joins. Takes time.
After I finished the stencilling BINGO I gave the paint time to thoroughly dry before attaching it to the wooden seat. I had trimmed the seat cover too tightly and stapling the cover to the seat was a bit of a stretch on one corner.
Post here (August 16, 2012), with the before and after (below) on my first try with this stool.
Here the stool showing the stapling issue (left corner) and the finished stool (in front of the buffet that we have been revamping, see post here). I re-attached the hinges and click/support to the top.
Another project finished. No cost (used materials on hand).
Thank for visiting.
