This is the after.
Well built, perhaps a high school shop project from not more than 20 years ago. Heavy. Good magnetic closure. Tight fitting door frame. Dog photo needed to be updated and the clock numbers were falling off. Before photo below.
It needed something more so I tried white and changed the picture on the clock face.
The top had a bit of water glass staining so I gave it two coats of Zinsser Primer-Sealer Stain Killer Bulls Eye 1-2-3. I taped the door and interior frame with masking tape and painted the outside with CeCe Caldwell Simply White.
I left the door and inside neutral.
The door was so tight that it dragged on the paint when it was opened but wax solved the problem.
This was a bigger job than planned. Fail on the first try. Clock stopped working.
The long screw that holds the clock hands was too deep and the top hand pointed top touched the glass door.
DH came up with a solution. Instead of buying a shorter screw/clock kit he changed the distance from the clock kit to the back of the clock.
He made a thin spacer behind the clock back to move the long screw 'backwards' when it was re-installed. (thank you DH).
I used a bird and wreath from the Graphics Fairy and made a new round graphic (traced the aluminum picture backing).
I have to straighten the wreath picture too (did, took another photo).
Before and After
