The little magazine table has had a few paint jobs before it came home from a garage sale in the fall. It has been sitting in my kitchen stacked with boxes of stuff all this time. I mentioned this table on my Heap of Change 3 post in January.
This week it is time for a fresh coat of paint.
I considered orange or turquoise or green and then decided black. Since this little table is already 'black' changing the colour would take more than 2 coats (dark to lighter is not a quick paint project).
Painting a small table is much like a chair, turn it upside down and paint the bottom and inside areas first. Below are closeup views of the table condition.
I used Breeze Outdoor Latex Black (it was 'blacker' than interior black). First coat below.
Below is the finished table. Waxed with ASCP clear.
Before and After
Blue scotch brand tape
1 1/2" synthetic paint brush
General Paints Exterior, Breeze, black
ASCP Wax Clear/brush
Thanks for visiting.

Joy the table turned out beautiful! Black is my go to color for painted furniture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great redo! You did an awesome job. Are you keeping it!

You took a table from blah black to beautiful black.
ReplyDeleteThe table looks great , with love Janice
ReplyDeleteWow Joy, the table looks brand new! You did a wonderful job, my dear :) Have a lovely Valentine's Day! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteCan I please have that table? I've passed on couple of those magazine tables at our local thrift store then was so mad at myself, things don't stay there for any length of time. What was I not thinking, duh. Love your table, looks so pretty. Handy too for magazines, lol. LIke the lighter top on it, gives it fancier look. Lucky you finding it. I'm going to keep an eye out for one. Everything here is so much more expensive, must have gold thru it or something. I got used to finding awesome pieces in KY for reasonable amounts, even our thrift stores here are high. You did great job on that unassuming little table, now she's snazzy. Happy Valentine
ReplyDeleteTurned out really pretty Joy. Love the color. Have never painted any furniture black but see a lot that is very pretty. Might have to give it a try.

Simple to do and it comes out great!! Always wonderful to redo the oldies than to buy the new stuff that lasts for what? a week? Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNICE MAKEOVER. YOU DID A GOOD JOB.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with that table. My parents have one that is "antiqued" red with black bits in it. I keep wanting to re-do it but it's sentimental because it's the first furniture they painted together when they were first married.
ReplyDeleteJoy, the table turned out stunning. It looks great. Happy Valentine's Day!
