I've kept my mid January Heap of Change # 1 room in pretty good shape since I finished sorting, donating, organizing, cleaning and making myself a restful room.
This week I tweaked the bookshelf a bit to make it more convenient by moving the books up and the baskets down the shelves.
I often need a little stool to stand on or put something on and this one is often in my room.
It is one I painted green many years ago, one of several my Dad made for Church sales as well as for home and family. It is pattered after the one my Dad made as a young boy on the home ranch in the 1920's.
Could not resist adding faux grain stripes by taping the stool Used painters tape in 2 different widths. Painted one coat of CeCe Caldwell Santa Fe Turquoise Natural Chalk + Clay Paint. It looks similar to a solid gel in the can. Paints on like a dream. I used ASCP Clear Wax as the finish.
before and after
Small changes.
Thanks for visiting today.

I like the turquoise. I have never tried that brand of paint. I'll have to see if it is carried locally.

That little stool turned out great! :) Nice color.
ReplyDeleteYour room does look so tranquil with that gorgeous aqua painting....and now with a very cool aqua stool. I have yet to use the chalk paints and have no idea what to do with the wax! I am not so crafty! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the post your shared called chalk clay paint at Fab Friday, I love the little stool, the color is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria
Just stopping by from Sally's Blue Monday to wish you a fabulous week - love your revamped stool.

It's great that the bookshelf is working for you and the Heap of Change Challenge had a good effect. If the challenge worked and your shelves are still straightened up, it was a success. I'm still working on the challenge. I had so much to do, and I am still plodding along.
ReplyDeleteHi Joy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful bench; I love the color too! Thanks for making Blue Monday special.
Happy Blue Monday!
solid blue there.
ReplyDeleteHello, I love the turquoise color! And the baskets on the shelve are a great idea. They keep everything so neat.. Thanks for sharing! Happy March, wishing you a great day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteNicely done!! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI love the color you chose! It is a nice change you made with your bookshelf and the room in general. We all need a nice change. I have a beautiful peachy colored comforter set in layaway and I am excited to get it and set it up. But I am waiting until Spring really hits! I have creamy sheers to hang too ! I love changing our bedroom from Spring/Summer Fall/Winter. I am trying to get a little Spring themed candelabra done too. It has permanent holly berries for Winter on it ! SO I need to hide those with Spring flowers and it holds the tea lites that are battery operated and I found them in purple at the Dollar Tree. I like to decorate for the holidays so I better get busy! Easter will be here soon and St. Patrick's Day flies by.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, I enjoyed your mini tour.
I love it! And I love the bedroom, too!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the new color and everything looks so organized!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you've done - amazing how a fresh coat of paint can dramatically change something. I like the stripes too! ;) Doesn't it feel good to freshen things up with little changes and tweaks?! Your room looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love the turquoise color. It's a great update.

ReplyDeleteJoy I love the new color of the stool and the added grain strip is darling! I have a couple of little stools that I am always pulling out. One has a rubber top and one is round. Might be fun to do this with the round one. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
