Embrace the Eclectic (for now) is going to be a third Monday of each month themed post. This is Number 1.
Something to fall in love with - the original wooden box for a Stanley 55 Combination Universal Plane.
The box would have been more than enough - but inside - all the parts of the Combination Plane.
In their vintage glory.

Vintage Stanley55 Wooden Box Details
Nothing needs to be added or subtracted from the Stanley55 Plane except *blades. DH is in charge of that detail. Used for making rabbets**, joints and moldings.
I learned more about the Stanley55 from
*Then I learned (from another site) how much the blades would cost !!! Maybe this will be a wonderful box of the Stanley 55 Universal Plane to admire rather than use. I did see a picture of a complete set of blades and they were wonderful and extensive and not frequently found.
** The Wise Geek wrote: rabbets are used to make grooves cut into the edge of a piece of wood for the purpose of creating a joint or a needed space.
Thanks for visiting.

Oh yes...Eclectic is my favorite style(s) - the best of all possible things. Your #55 is so very cool! I have been enjoying vintage industrial things so very much, and am planning a living room tweak adding much more in! Thanks for sharing this at Revisionary Life Thrifty Life Thursday!
ReplyDeleteOh, my Daddy would have been so excited by this! He was a master woodworker, and he had more than one Stanley set. I remember him finding a 55 in Columbus, Ohio when we were up there visiting family about 25 years ago, you'd have thought he'd found the Holy Grail. Your new series sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing this at my History & Home link party this week! Featuring this awesome find on my Pinterest Link Party Features board :) Take care - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
