Wreath of Celebration
I celebrated my completion of radiation treatments Wednesday with a burst of energy. I felt giddy with relief and well being. I will admit to shedding a few happy tears too. Did 3 loads of laundry, decided to remove a ton of dust and cobwebs from one room, hauled a small carpet outside for cleaning.
Picked tomatoes with dear GS. He picked a bouquet of dahlias while cutting back the ones that were 'finished'. I pulled the finished bean and tomato plants. Such a pleasure to spend a bit of time in the garden.
After supper I decided decorating a wreath would be a way to mark the completion of this time period in my life.
Used 3 grape vine wreaths (had on hand)
Burlap from the bolt I bought at the market
Dried hydrangea from 2 autumns ago
Wire cut from the roll in the shed
Safety pins from my thrifted stash
Added a small banner the next morning and moved the wreath to my front door.
Added a small banner the next morning and moved the wreath to my front door.
Added dried hydrangea from my living room bouquets. It was time for them to serve another purpose.
Wove the stems in with the grape vines, added burlap ties (using pins to attach).
My wreath project echos so many other bloggers who are posting 'shop the house/no additional cost' projects.

I'm so happy for you Joy. That whole ordeal is behind you now, brave girl. I love your hydrangea wreath. In my old house I had the most beautiful hydrangea but not in this house. I was just telling my daughter today that I need to plant a bunch for next year. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great and I love the "shop my house" idea!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuzie @ Dorothy Sue and Millie B's too
Joy, joy! So happy to hear the treatments are finished! Now to return to your regularly life, right? Love the wreath. We're shopping house and farm right now, putting together a fall display, finishing up small projects started in the spring but put aside in the rush of summer, just generally slowing down a bit. It feels good.
ReplyDeleteThis is just precious! I love the creative colors, and textures.... Congratulations on finishing radiation! I believe that is deserving of a huge celebration, and I must say that you made a beautiful tribute to a big moment in your life...

Your wreath turned out so well. I remember several years ago attempting to make a hydrangea wreath at a class and failing miserably. It was too fussy for my big fingers. Valerie
