There were 3 Motorcycle Licence Plates ('73, '68, '69) and 2 vehicle licence plates ('68, '73).
including one from
1969, a memorable year for us.
(DH became DH and I became DW)
Only ' sort of' motorcycle I've even driven was a scooter that my Dad used to drive around town (to save on gas) in the late 1960's. I loved riding that bike but I should have taken lessons, I got a leg burn from the exhaust pipe that ended my scooter riding. Pre-helmet time.
Here are the two licence plates, 1968
and 1973 (commercial).
I love the close up details. Metal, rusty, funky.
Snippets of the past. A bit of history.
I love to see vintage license plates. I see so many fun projects using old license plates.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll think of a project to use them for too. I do love the textures.

I love these!!! I have some vintage plates from 1936 (the year my husband was born) that belonged to his father in law (father of his first beloved wife) and they now hang on the back wall of our house facing the gazebo. I have painted scenes on many a license plate! I should post a few sometime.
ReplyDeleteI always save our license plates and put them in the barn :)
ReplyDeleteAll of our old license plates and some of my grandparent's too are in our garage. Treasures!

ReplyDeleteI saw on Pinterest where you cut the numbers for your address out of different old license plates and put them together as an address marker for your house. I am hoping to find some so I can make one for my front gate. Love the ones you found. Any plans for them?

Those are cool! Think of the crafty things you could do with them...
ReplyDeleteI've burned my leg on an exhaust pipe too. I think it is some kind of rite of passage or something. : )
I love these old license plates (or number plates as we Brits call them). Very cool!
