Mantel Update January. Borrowed a few pieces from DH collections. A change from silver, candles, flowers and china.

After I framed this picture I noticed the green desks wooden knobs really needed to be painted (see posts on Painting Inside of the desk here and outside here and here).
Project within a project.
2 coats Autumn Fat Paint and one of Minwax paste wax.
Buffed knobs and put back on desk.
Shelf details.
Long view with the addition of painted knobs. I see that I made a few changes to the shelves between the first and last picture.

What an adorable display, love the Boston Terrier, the red shelf and the jars of sewing items. I liked the knobs white but after you painted them I liked them even better. Love the new look for your mantel.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the knobs seemed to pull the shelf and desk color via color. Looks great, Joy!

Hi Joy,
ReplyDeleteI have a cast iron dog doorstop just like yours! I'm following as I want to come back and read. I only skimmed as far as the turkey sandwich and green olives post. That looks so good.

Hi Joy, great display. I love the typewriter print and the vintage bottles sitting on the little shelf. Doesn't it feel good to get to cross something off your 'to do' list. Like painting those knobs? Thanks for sharing with SYC.

ReplyDeleteNice finishing touches for your desk. I enjoyed looking at all the nice vignettes upon the shelves.
ReplyDeleteFunny how thinking of round I see more than just your knobs as being round. Your desk looks lovely, by the way.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how many round objects we can find in our homes. The knobs add some lovely colour to the dresser. Valerie
