This buffet was a 'freebee', doors broken, brown stain on some parts, lots of crayon and felt pen kid scribbles. Heavy. Oak. Dip stripped most likely.
This is the after picture.
DH repaired the doors and reattached with new hinges and magnet closures. I used Zinsser cover stain (2 to 3 coats in some places) and CeCeCaldwell chalk/clay Antique White and finished it with clear varathaine for the body and waxed drawer fronts.
Buffet after repairs and before painting. This is a very substantial piece.
Before painting (well, a bit of white on the corner), Buffet came with the dark brown staining in several areas and I am guessing 'tried to fix' and 'too much work' lead to its 'free' status.
Just a few closeups of the condition. Not bad, good bones.
One to two (depending on coverage needed) of Zinsser white stain and two to three of CeCe Antique White. Coming along nicely.
Autumn themed decorations. This is a 'pink' pumpkin.
This white buffet will have a new home soon.
It is so heavy that I decorated it in place (carport).

Wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting piece could you add back and bottom shots? wttyt I like what you have done
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I didn't even take a 'before it was repaired' picture! The back is great and when I move it away from the wall I will take that view and add it. I never even looked underneath (too heavy to tip up) but I could try from the floor up underneath.
ReplyDeleteGeorgous as ever! Great save. I love real wood furniture - usually saveable
