Painted Stool - Layers & Wear

Flea Market Find - Vintage Multi-Painted Stool

From the many photos in this post you may guess that I am totally in love with this painted stool. Real deal, no chalk paint, no sanding, nothing. I washed it. Took lots of pictures. Learned something new, thanks to Centsational Girl for the tutorial on adding text and an opaque rectangle across a picture using Pixlr (see the first picture below) and Between Naps on the Porch (my favourite place to get for tips and tutorials on blogging, editing, what to do when Picnik disappears etc.) who brought this tutorial to my/blogger attention. Very helpful tutorial.

I took the following pictures outside. The colour is fairly accurate in the first two pictures but the following 'group' of 4 look a bit too blue.

The 'group of 4' show such wonderful age and wear and colour.
The legs have red paint under the yellow with great 'natural' wear.

I love a natural crackle  in the paint. Age.

Regular readers will recognize the blue desk with its cast iron bird and Graphic's Fairy egg print as well as the large pie safe (and here) I use as a backdrop for many of my photos and the black and painted flowers on the Crown Ducal vase and this week's flower indulgence on the painted stool.
A final look at that amazing paint layered, crackled and worn top of the stool.
Fun post to take pictures for and write.
Saying hi to my sister.

  1. I love it! I love all of the wear and colors underneath. Great find!

    Enjoy your day.

  2. I have a little chair that my Grandpa made and it has that same blue color. It is well-worn, but I love it just the way it is. Have a good day.

  3. Simply gorgeous!

You can't beat the real thing!

  4. Beautiful!

I'm so sorry about your sister's blog! My goodness, that would be devastating! Does she have a PC? Macs very rarely get viruses or malware. Maybe she should think about investing in a Mac? Is her blog salvageable? Maybe she can take her computer to someone who can remove the malware - I know there are people who can do that.

  5. She has a Mac. She doesn't know who to take the computer to, she is trying to find someone.

  6. Hi Joy,

Just love your new stool. Some things just don't need to be changed.

  7. That stool is perfect just the way it is! ~ Maureen

  8. Hi Joy ... love the time-worn look on this stool... just something that can never be duplicated. You will find many uses for the great piece. I hate to thing of all the great pieces I ruined by stripping them, but that was the thing to do then. Never thought of bringing shabby looking furniture in the house. LOVE it now. Blessings. Audrey Z. Timeless Treasures.

  9. That's a great find - aren't you the lucky one.
I like it "as is" just like you do!

Thanks for visiting. I read and appreciate all your comments. Joy
