Would you buy this lantern?
I saw what I thought was a rusty garden decoration type lantern, paid, had the kind lady put in in a box of to hold for me under the table and I kept shopping.
Got home, unpacked and had second looks at what I picked up. Finally got to the garden stuff, checked out the lantern (which I assumed was a candle lantern) and discovered ...
Much more detail than a candle lantern. Did you think I meant the spider webs covered in dust and the rust and bits of white stuff?
Not just weather worn but old. Perhaps a barn lantern. Its the real thing.
The rust and coloration that junky collectors crave.
A final close look at the details, rust and spider webs included.

ReplyDeleteI like it, dirt and all. I remember one time I played in the garden dirt with my grandpa in a white eyelet dress and my Mama was fit to be tied. He just winked at me and said dirt don't hurt - it gives you character. Mama said which character, Pig Pen? lol we all laughed. Thanks for sharing your find.
ReplyDeletewell JOY ... you really scored with that find. Great lantern and you might even find a name or date on it somewhere. Enjoy.
