Continuing with the Church Sale finds from last weekend. There were several oil paintings and etchings at this sale, all very vintage and quite a bit older. It was not easy to pass up original art works. I bought two oil paintings. The first was a smaller framed oil painting you see below. The second is a very large European themed river, islands and land scenic.
This one - no signature. I am guessing maybe it was painted as a magazine illustration. Frame was dark. Foxed canvas (spotty back). I am in love with it and it isn't even a theme I like. Takes me back to my younger years when I was a 'painter' for awhile. The reason I am suspecting that it was painted as an illustration is because the painting has bare canvas on several areas of the perimeter.
Close up details - ducks, shore grass and the faceless hatted hunter
Frame, canvas, nails and foxed details. Painter built canvas.
Concentration, any man in a well used duck blind.
