School Desk, Annie Sloan Paris Grey and Wax

This desk is a garage sale find. There were two but unfortunately one was used as a bench for cutting wood and the front edge was cut off along with the board in questions.

This is my first ASCP on furniture using the finish of dark wax over clear wax and chalk paint. I used a sand sponge to clean the desk of varnish chips and dust after giving it a good dry brush scrub to remove the spider eggs and webs.

This project, spaced over three days, took an estimated 3-4 hours to complete.

Rust-oleum primer 1st coat
Annie Sloan Paris Grey 2nd coat
- a small amount of sanding on wear areas using sand sponge-
Clear wax 3rd coat
added dark wax

another clear wax and buff, and in my booth

  1. Oh my goodness! You've been so busy. It looks great, what a dusty dirty project. Adorable!

  2. I just bought a desk like that a few weeks ago! I've been wanting to paint it, but wasn't sure - you've inspired me! Thanks!

  3. Love the transformation. How did you like the AS wax? I have heard mixed reviews on them.

  4. Just used clear wax (Rexall floor).

I would like to try both AS waxes sometime.
