Painted Mirror Part 1

The mirror (nice garage sale find) is a HomeSense and the tag was still on. I actually like it blue but decided to try dry brush (first try). Tomorrow it will look different because after today's experiment I went out to buy some new paint. Couldn't find anything with the word Shabby Chic or Cottage White as a name so settled on Avocado Souffle - cream with a tiny tinge toward olive green.

This is after I found out that Canada does not have a Chalk Paint distributor (Chalkboard paint yes, Chalk paint no). There are many distributor's of this English paint in the USA but postage just puts it too far out of reality to order in. Marion of Miss Mustard Seed writes about this paint here and she has been using it and posting absolutely great photos in her blog. She also has a distributor list. Anne Sloan, the person who owns Chalk Paint has a UK web site is here.

  1. You are really getting the spray bug. My husband paints everything with a brush...oh well as long as he paints i won't complain!
    Have a great weekend!

  2. So sorry you don't have a distributor in Canada. I still want to look one up here. I love the finish you put on the mirror. You have created a look very similar to Marion's.

  3. I love what you've done with the mirror. Sorry about the Chalk Paint. Maybe someone you know stateside can buy some and bring it to you?

  4. Love the mirror, Joy! Dry brushing gives it a nice aged look. I've used that method on a few things over the years. I really like the birdcage in your previous post too. Very cute! You live not all that far from my little granddaughter! She's in Surrey. Thanks for your visit and have a wonderful weekend.

  5. Thanks for your kind comments. Sunny day here today, nice to get outside and breath fresh air, check the flowering bulbs for progress.
