Vintage 50's Kitchen Dishes

Well, a few. The teaplate is called Brixham and was produced by Alfred Meakin England. Salt and Pepper are marked Japan and the oil carafe is likely Japan (mostly rubbed off mark on bottom). As a grouping they are quite charming.

The  background for the dishes is my first try at painting (other than chairs) furniture. It is a 1960's era Rock Maple welsh dresser (shelves with two doors, long drawer, two plate display shelves). I am going to post the sequence as my first 'before and after, but not today. The color is a greyed brown with a bit of green called Mosquito. I had the number and I went to General Paints web site and got a color name. Premium Alkyd, Egg Shell.

  1. What an adorable set! Thank you for sharing.

  3. I used to not like this style of dishes, but they grow on you don't they? I like that apple oil bottle especially.

  4. Thanks for all your comments. I am putting them in to the mall (meant to today but dear g.son was not feeling well this morning and it took an extra 1 1/2 hours to get him to school - he perked up at 9:41 and insisted on going to school NOW. Which I did.
