Ephemera is transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved. A problem with paper collections is silverfish. Silverfish like bookshelves and boxes with papers in them because they eat the glue that binds books and seals boxes. Here is a link with suggestions for controlling silverfish at Grandma's Home Remedies
Silverfish are very persistent pests. Lace like remnants of documents or pages of a book can be quite annoying. You may have guessed that this has become a problem in the storage room. The bundles in these photos were fine but several examples of silverfish work were discovered this week. The most obvious was a thin paper from 1955, a weight and height record from primary school, lacey, fragile and now photocopied and sealed in a plastic bag.
