Vintage Hooks

Winter jackets were overflowing the 5 hooks in the entry and there was a little space that could hold 3 more hooks.

We had a piece of pine left over from another project and DH added 3 vintage hooks.

I painted (2 coats of CeCe Caldwell Antique White) and waxed (AS Clear Wax).

I wanted to try out a new stencil and used CeCe Beckley Coal and a 1 inch stencilling brush with frog tape on the edges while stencilling to make sure the white stayed white. When finished I washed the stencil under running water rubbing the paint off carefully. It is very easy to bend the thin areas around the text and pattern (which is not a good thing) on the plastic stencil.

Before and After

There were a few whoops drilled holes that I filled with a paintable filler, sanded, used a bit of paint to cover, then waxed.

Finished.

You know that solving one problem does solve other mess issues. Things get moved around, some things get donated, some are moved a different space in the home.

The Medalta Lidded #5 Imperial Crock (dog kibble container) moved to the kitchen (closer to the dog's bowls), the plant that comes in for the winter season moved into the spot vacated by the dog food, the pail of rusty unusable old tools and 3 oars (!) and two long boards left the building, the rubber boots that no one ever wore are now downstairs. The steps and tiled floor are clean for awhile (dog hair and rubber bands from the delivered newspapers are the worst of the mess). Fewer trip hazards (well, the dogs like to block any passage areas and they are trip hazards, keeps them happy I think).

Thanks for visiting.

  3. I love the vintage hooks and the paint work you did on the wood, amazing what we can do with a few off cuts of wood. It's really effective.
