Washboard and Summers End Flowers

DH found a washboard in sad shape and carefully glued and clamped the pieces back in place (no photos, I wasn't home at the time). My job was to clean and then wipe with hemp oil to restore the wood a bit.

This is the 'before hemp oil and after repair'.

I applied MMS Milk Paint Hemp Oil with my favorite oiling brush to the wood. MMS uses a soft cloth to apply the oil. After it dried in I burnished the wood with a soft cloth.

The finished washboard.

The end of the summer rain and wind storms left a wonderful sunset on September 3rd.

On September 4th I found a few summer's end blossoms. I know there are 17 days before September 21st but the cool weather seems to be here. Who knows, with the changes to our usual spring and summer weather, what autumn will bring.

Flowers photos were taken in the late afternoon.

Thank you for visiting.

  1. I had an old washboard my dad found for me. Unfortunately when we downsized, it was one of the things I gave away.

Enjoy these last days of summer.

  3. I probably need to do the hemp oil thing with my wash boards. It really never occurred to me. So I'm glad you mentioned it!

Cooler weather sounds like a dream to me! We are at the ranch and SO thankful for our A/C! Still in the upper 90's down here in Texas!!

  8. Hi Joy,

My mom used to use a washboard. Those were hard days.

Thanks for celebrating Blue Monday's 7th blogiversary.

  10. I love a washboard. I did a remake once and make a chalk/memo board, scrapbooked some clothes pin and added magnets. It was fun and sold right away!

  17. I love old washboards like this. I've been looking for one at a reasonable price but all the ones I've seen at antique stores are too high for what I want to pay. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos at Inspiration Thursday! Have a great week!
