Tables, Shutters, Watering Can and Chalk-Clay Paint

Continuing on with the week of painting, this post shows two little tables, shutters and a watering can.

Table # 1

First little table was very sturdy and heavy. The top was particle board with a glued on picture that refused to be scraped off. At first I thought it should be a footstool with a cushioned top but it was a bit too tall for comfort.

It was given 2 coats of CeCe Caldwell Chalk- Clay paint in Santa Fe Turquoise.

DH added a pine top to the little table.

Sanded, edges routed, wiped down with a wash of white chalk type paint (1 tsp paint to 2 tsp water).

Waxed. Paint colour was turquoise (CeCe Caldwell Santa Fe Turquoise) with some white (ASCP Simply White) wash on the table top. Waxed with ASCP Soft Wax.

Before and After

Table # 2

The second small table has a somewhat unique, very different shape both on the top and the shelf. This is the 'before'.

It too was painted with Santa Fe Turquoise and waxed.

The top had bleed through from old oil perhaps. Painted a coat of sealer. Oil based.Painted top again. Success. Waxed.

Shutters
Just for fun - more painting - painted shutters. I use my folding clothes drying stands to hold flat objects that I paint. Good air circulation. Painted with Versalles ASCP.

Finally, the Watering Can Repainted

Vintage watering can got two coats of chalk paint. I had painted this watering can with chalkboard paint and it didn't work so I painted it again with ASCP Versailles mixed with Simply white and then a second coat of straight Versailles and waxed with ASCP Soft Wax.

My photos do not have accurate lighting to show the Santa Fe Turquoise accurate colour so I added a portion of the colour chart from CeCe Caldwell's web site

with wax it shows as a more intense turquoise.

Thanks for visiting today.
That was a lot of painting but it felt good,
sunshine, fresh air, time.
