Celebrating Spring Flowers and a Special Birthday

Today the post includes a late April garden visit, lawn mowing, a birthday gift and tulips and daffodils from the heart.

The ornamental plum tree is blossoming.

Someone that makes my heart sing - DGS - is tall and strong enough to mow the lawn (we share the job) and we no longer 'both' hold the handle and push, he is working solo (yes I am very close by). Sigh. Growing up.

We celebrated at special birthday last week with lots of hugs and a couple of surprises for Grandpa.

Birthdays involve flower shopping and Grandpa almost got orchids (DGS loves orchids).

The parrot tulips grew, the peas are a bit taller, the peony is doing very well as are the rhubarb, weeds and dandelions.

Picked with care and love. They lasted in the house from Friday to Monday night.

I am a very lucky Grandma indeed.

  4. I picked up a white orchid from Lowes yesterday. Going to try my hand at them since the first one is still alive and blooming. How long does a bloom stay on there? It's been months!

  15. It is so nice that your grandchild is mowing the lawn. In our neighborhood everyone seems to hire a landscaper. Yes, the grass is cut; but gone are the days of loving caring for the yard. It is what it is.

  16. Love that moss covered tree ... Grandsons grow up too fast. Ours are 20 and 22. The one I kept while his parents worked would always pick the wild flowers for me ... dandelions and wild onions. Love them and they always remind me of him. Good that you have a grandson near to help you.

  17. No one ever told us how wonderful being a Grandma would be! There still are worries, but lots more time to observe the fun! Combine all that with gardening and spring itself...well SUPER! Lovely moments you have shared here!
