Treen - Wooden Butter Stamps

More treen. The photos of my collection show a range in style, age and color for these butter stamps, also known as butter molds, used to impress a pattern on butter pats. The Journal of Antiques October 2000 issue, Hearth to Heart Butter Molds Practically Decorative written by Alice Ross provides a overview and historical time line on butter molds or stamps.

  1. Wow, I love your butter stamps! I picked one up today at my local Antique store. It is the exact Pineapple one that you have pictured above. It came with its original tag "Butter and Cookie Print another NAYCO Product". On the backside of the tag it gives instructions on how to use the stamp and at the bottom lists the company name: Nathan Cohen, Inc. PHILA.,PA. 19121. I've been searching the internet to figure out what year these particular stamps were manufactured. Would you have any idea? I love your blog btw, :)
